Sydney Aquarium, Taronga Zoo

Today we got to see some of Australia's animal life. We started out by walking to Darling Harbor, a gorgeous area of Sydney right by the water. This is where we went to the Sydney Aquarium. In the Aquarium we saw a variety of aquatic animals. The first animal that we tried to see was the Platypus. Little did we know though the Platypus is a shy animal and it was not easy to catch a glimpse of him. Continuing on we saw some fish that are native to Australia, some that weren't, and we also got to see some little penguins. The best part of the aquarium was a section that allowed you to actually touch some of the aqua life. I got to touch a shark egg and a sea cucumber :) After leaving the Aquarium we took a ferry to the the Taronga Zoo. On the ferry we got to have a great look at Sydney. We got to see the Opera House, as well as the main Sydney bridge and Sydney's little amusement park. Once at the Zoo we had to opportunity to explore more of Australian wildlife. We saw an Emu, Red and Grey Kangaroos, a Tasmanian Devil, Brush-Tailed Rock Wallaby, and an Echidna among others. Most of the animals were not very lively, they were lounging in the sun or sleeping, but it was still great to get a close up look at some Australian wildlife. The birds that we had the chance to see though were very active. We went to a bird show, and these birds were flying all over, swooping close to our heads as well as taking coins from people. Overall we got to see a lot of new things today, and I loved it!
